I came to NZ 6 years ago and joined a GYM to meet new people.
I was saddened that no-one spoke to me or even acknowledged my existence.
I'm not a huge fan of personal training either as having someone shout at me is not my idea of motivation.I recently found myself in a position where by I needed to earn a full time living if I wanted to stay in my house and keep my horses.

Rose Cottage (named after my mum) was born.
As I come into my 50th year and I see my youth flutter away behind me, the old adage of 'if you don't use it you lose it' has never been more true.
Although, what they don't explain is that if you have lost it, with some moderate exercise you can get it back :) I was in the fitness industry for over 20 years before I took a 12 year break.
I have always remembered that getting people to commit to a workout was always the hardest part - so what if we make a commitment to a friend ad go workout to gather, and what if there were only a couple of other people there (6 at the most).
No iPods, headphones or other impersonal devices.
I'm talking about good old fashioned socialising.
And when you have finished your workout you can sit and relax in the conservatory and catch up with your friends.
Beats going to a coffee shop any day :)
