Von der Mittelschule zur Robert-Bosch-Schule.
Die heutige Robert-Bosch-Schule wurde 1958 als Mittelschule aus der Taufe gehoben.
Damals starteten zwei Klassen mit 84 Schülern in verschiedenen Schulgebäuden des Berufsbildungszentrums.
Vier Jahre später zog die Schule in den Neubau in der Virchowstraße in Homburg, wo sie auch heute noch zu finden ist..
Der Name der Schule wurde genau wie die Räumlichkeiten mehrfach geändert: Aus der ursprünglichen Mittelschule wurde zunächst eine Realschule des Saarpfalz-Kreises, anschließend eine Kreisrealschule und mit der Zusammenlegung von Hauptschule und Realschule zur Erweiterten Realschule.

Dass sie heute Robert-Bosch-Schule heißt, ist der Kooperationsvereinbarung „Schule-Wirtschaft“ geschuldet.
Durch die Kooperation mit der Firma Bosch trägt die Schule seit 2002 den Namen des Kooperationspartners..
Seit vielen Jahren ist die Robert-Bosch-Schule selbstständige Schule, deren Ziel es ist, selbstständig den Qualitätsverbesserungsprozess, v.a.

Daneben existiert nach wie vor die frühere Form der „Halbtagsklasse“ in allen genannten Klassenstufen sowie im H- und M-Zweig der Klassen von 8 bis 10..
Die Robert-Bosch-Schule hat neben ihrem Namensgeber einen guten Kontakt zur Uniklinik Homburg, welcher nunmehr im Zusammenhang mit dem Aufbau der neuen Gemeinschaftsschule ab dem kommenden Schuljahr 2012/13 eine größere Rolle spielen wird.
Zurzeit arbeitet ein Team, das sich aus Mitgliedern der Schule, der Neurologie der Universitätsklinik und weiteren Partnern zusammensetzt, an einem neuen Schulkonzept, das bereits zu Beginn des kommenden Schuljahrs in Klassenstufe 5 zum Einsatz kommen wird.
