was established in 2013, with the purpose to raise awareness of an extremely rare and devastating kidney cancer that primarily affects those with the sickle cell trait.
It is also our hope to raise funds to assist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, The National Institutes of Health and other facilities researching RMC.
Over 3 million Americans are affected by the sickle cell trait, and more than 300 million people worldwide have the sickle cell trait.
This disease not only affects African Americans, but also Caucasians from Southern Europe, Hispanics, South Asians and those of Mediterranean origin.
