Detailed description is RCS 522 245 992 "Par cy passe Rigault".

A la fin du XIXe siècle, l'attention fut attirée sur Villeneuve par le trésor qu'on y trouva: plus de 1000 pièces du XIIe au XIVe siècle, dans un vase de terre grossière qu'on avait enterré là sans doute au temps de la guerre de Cent Ans..

Villeneuve était le château de Rigault d'Aureille, conseiller et maître d'hotel de Louis XI, puis ambassadeur de Charles VIII et de Louis XII.
Les armoiries parlantes de ce personnage sont sculptées au-dessus de la petite porte d'entrée, à droite du château: le cimier est surmonté d'une tête d'âne ayant entre ses oreilles (Aureille) une fleur de chardon (en patois: Rigaud).
Au-dessous sont des branches de persil qui font allusion à la charge de maître d'hotel.
L'inscription en gothique "Par cy passe Rigault" peut se comprendre aussi "Persil surpasse chardon"..
