O Recife Pirates é o mais antigo clube legalizado de futebol americano em Pernambuco.
Os Piratas tiveram seu início em 2007, nas areias da praia de Boa Viagem, no Recife, pela paixão de um grupo unido de amigos de colégio pelo futebol da bola oval.
A partir de 2009, tornou-se membro da Associação Nordestina de Futebol Americano, ANEFA.
Os anos de areia terminaram em 30/01/2010.
Já em grama, o time se consolidou em 17/07/2010, quando fez história ao se tornar o 1º clube nordestino de futebol americano que teve todo o equipamento necessário para jogo, tratavam-se dos shoulder pads e dos helmets.
Os atletas, novatos e veteranos, demonstraram sua dedicação ao time e em 14/11/2010, proporcionou o 1º jogo entre clubes nordestinos, totalmente equipados.
A partida foi disputada contra o Natal Scorpions, em Recife.
