My name is Pat Martin.
I was born in the lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.
I moved several years ago with my family to Harvest, Alabama and have been here ever since.
I became interested in art at a young age.
I was surrounded by my grandmother making quilts, working in the garden with beautiful flowers, and when I went to school working with pencils and drawing maps..

I love drawing realistic figures and faces, striving to make them pop off the page in realism.
So, in 1985 I went to Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas to further my education and ability to do Art.
I decided to lay down my pencils and charcoal to get married and have two wonderful children.
I began working but kept my love for art strong by volunteering at my kids schools and church helping with different events.
By doing this I was able to explore other mediums and expand my knowledge of art and my own personal abilities.
Throughout all this, I realized that although the different mediums were fun, I still longed to hold a pencil and feel the charcoal on my paper..

In 2013, my life changed.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer, but with God's help and the support from my family I am now cancer free.
No longer working I have found myself with little to do.
One day, my family and I went to Lowe Mill and I found myself reflecting back to a simpler time when a sharp pencil and paper was all I needed to make my world come to life.

After 25 years of not drawing, I realized that there was still so much to learn.
I wanted to draw photorealistic.
I've been furthering my education here in Huntsville, Al.
My first art exhbition was at Lowe Mill in Huntsville, Alabama..
