Detailed description is Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.The church was founded in Corinth ,Mississippi on August 19th,1963 Prince of Peace began when a husband and wife, Charles and Bea Dalton, saw that there was no established Lutheran church in the area and placed an ad in the Daily Corinthian to determine local interest.
Reba Bauer saw the ad and responded, thus began the development of the church.
The few members then contacted the Southern District of the Missouri Synod and asked them to develop a pastoral ministry for the church.
For a period of time, several pastors from the area assisted and came to the church to preach and bring communion to the members.
Soon the church was established and on August 19, 1963, Reverend George Miler conducted the first worship service.
The first services began in the home of Albert and Lorraine Baushckes and were held twice a month, on the first and third Sundays..

On September 15, 1963, the congregation began to meet at the Episcopal Church in the evenings.
Then on October 4, the first meeting of the congregation was held.
The Southern District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod soon received the new congregation, and the congregation named the new church "Trinity.” The name of the church was soon changed, however, due to confusion with a sister church's name.
The church was then named "Prince Of Peace,” even though there were two other churches in the northern part of the state with that name (Oxford and Southaven).
The district office smiled and said there is a lot of peace in north Mississippi..

The congregation's next move was to the Robertson Clinic.
The times there were difficult, as many times when it rained the roof leaked and flooded the floors.
The members said in those days, they played musical chairs to avoid areas where the leaks were.
The congregation also had no heat or air conditioning in those days, making the conditions often unbearable.
The congregation, which would have normally prayed for new members and visitors, prayed that no one else would have to see these conditions and hoped for better ones..

The prayers were answered when a large blessing occurred in 1966.The church purchased the Coleman property on Shiloh Road.
The church of that time is estimated to be 6 to 10 families, so this was a huge leap of faith.
The members agreed that putting the church on a major road like Shiloh was worth the cost.
The old house needed much work, such as cleaning up and painting, but the congregation united to make the house a beautiful church to worship in.
That year, the congregation had many things to be thankful for and worshipped in the new building for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
This first church house is still present on the property today and is now the church parsonage behind the present church..

The church congregation began to grow, and the old house became too small to hold all the members and guests.
The church had grown so big that in 1987, the church had to hold two services every Sunday to serve all of the members.
The church held a meeting on May 5, 1987, and made the decision to build a new church.
The church contracted a local contractor and on September 26, 1988, the construction of the new 4,556 square-foot church began.
On December 31, 1988, the church rejoiced with a celebration of the completion of the new building.
The first service was held in the new church on January 7, 1989..

The church has had no material changes over the years,and except for the removal of several trees in the yard, the property remains the same as it was when Prince of Peace began so many years ago.
The church has had many changes over the years which they have survived through.
The church has seen membership change as members have moved into the area with large companies, and as these companies have moved and closed, members have moved also.
The local economy has suffered, and the declining population left many businesses and churches struggling and facing challenges to keep the doors open.
Prince of Peace was one of those churches losing a large percentage of its members..

The struggling economy has on several occasions caused the congregation to lose its fulltime pastor.
The church was blessed during those times with a series of interim pastors from the area serving them on Sundays and the strong leadership of the church that helped it to continue its ministry.
In spite of all the trials and tribulations, the church has faced and an "interesting" beginning, the congregation is united and maintains a deep faith in its ministry and mission.
The members strive to spread the word of God to all nations.
