Welcome to PLH Farm, the homesteading of Teo & Aldan.
We work our current ½-acre plot in Etna, NY to support the healthy diet of ourselves and our circle of influence.
With our interest in sustainability & our concern for the life on this planet in mind, we dedicate our Farm to Peace, Love, and Hope..

For several years our farm has consisted of sizable garden plots, composting, and a chicken flock with up to two dozen hens.
Since Aldan has a strong interest in fiber arts, we plan to expand our holdings and add sheep to the stock in the days ahead.
After a long search for a household dog who would both serve as personal companion and farmyard helper, we decided on the Icelandic Sheepdog (or “Icie”).
Our Cassandra [kennel name: Midnight Sun “Eir”] is a smart, sweet, driven girl who is exemplary with children, cats, and the chickens.
She helps eliminate the inevitable vermin, and we have not lost a bird to predation since she came to us.
She is protective of us, especially from dangers in the sky (including airplanes!) – raising the alarm with sharp barking.

Although no longer in danger of extinction, there are still relatively few individuals of this breed, both in Iceland and in the US.
For this reason, the Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America (ISAA) encourages responsible breeding of animals that exhibit desirable characteristics of form and temperament.
Having visited the 2014 National Specialty and consulted with attending judges and breeders, we decided that well-selected matches with Cassie would produce litters that are a credit to the breed.
We had her eyes (Normal) and hips (Good) screened, and checked for brucilosis soon before breeding.
We are registered & listed as an Approved Breeder with the ISAA..
