Seeing a need for a church in the Pineywood community, in 1937 Mrs.
Mattie Moore helped organize an open-air tent revival.
Afterwards they began holding services in people's homes, and land was soon donated by George and Della Bates so that a new church could be built.

Pineywood was established in 1938 with 19 charter members, with the first service being held in a one room wooden structure on the first Sunday of March 1938.
Since then, many additions have been made using money raised and donated by members.
These include the Fellowship Hall, which is named in honor of Bro.
Ray Moore who came to Pineywood in 1957 and served as our beloved pastor for 41 years.
