It is the oldest and largest fraternal society in music founded by Ossian Everett Mills at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
From there, Sinfonia became a national fraternity in 1900 with the admission of a group of men at Broad Street Conservatory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
