I have grown with dogs my entire life, and it’s a given that I’ve always loved them.
However, my dream wasn’t to be a dog trainer, but to work with exotic animals.
In early 2014 I started a job as a dog walker at a pet boarding facility.
I soon found I had a very natural ability to talk to the dogs, to understand them, and to work with them.
Aside from seven fosters, I have two canine companions of my own: Max, a 90 pound Pit-bull mix, and Buster, a 65 pound Rottweiler mix.
They both found us, so I guess you can call them rescues.
After working at the boarding facility for a few months, I gained a new-found interest in dog training.
I started to work with Buster, patiently and at his speed, and I saw him transform before me.
This fueled my passion for dog training exponentially.
Max was a little tougher because he was extremely dog aggressive and very stubborn.
However, after a lot of desensitization, exposure and patience, Max can now be trusted around a pack of dogs.
For me, being able to see the bond between human and canine while they learn, trust, and transform is what it’s really about.
My hopes are to bring people together with their canines, and to stop the abundance of animals in shelters due to lack of understanding and training.
I want to bring knowledge to owners and hope to the animals already in shelters, rehabilitating them to trust and feel loved again.
I have successfully completed my certification in Dog Training, and I am currently in school pursuing an Associate’s degree in Biology with plans to transfer to UC Davis to get my Bachelor’s in Animal Biology.
