Detailed description is This is a professionally run student organization that strives to put the power of education into the hands of the students.
We provide resources and study skills that are proven to increase test scores and, therefore, grades! Peer Learning Association is a registered student organization on campus designed to help students take an active role in enhancing their learning experience in several classes on campus.
Peer members attend weekly meetings, during which they have an opportunity to test their understanding of their course's material through presentations, followed by groups discussion via Socratic questioning.
The structure of this type of session is designed to encourage all members of the group to actively participate in learning the material.
In this informal group setting, each student presents a topic learned during the course in the previous week, and the members of the group help each other fully understand each concept.
During the sessions, a peer facilitator is present to make sure the right questions are being asked, and each topic is thoroughly covered.
These peer facilitators are students that have successfully completed the course in the past.
Currently, our organization offers peers sessions for Biology 151/153, Biology 152, Psychology 202, Chemistry 104, Chemistry 343 and Chemistry 345.
