Detailed description is Page de la paroisse de Raon l'Etape Dès 1279, Raon forme une paroisse avec une église (Saint-Luc) dont l’abbé de Moyenmoutier a le patronage.
En 1437, il se crée une chapelle appelée Notre-Dame à l’extérieure de l’enceinte.
Elle disparaît définitivement dans les tourments de la guerre de Trente-Ans.
Néanmoins en 1729 sous Léopold 1er, l’église Notre-Dame renaît avec sa réfection et la refonte de trois cloches puis l’achat d’une quatrième.
En 1766, cette église entourée de son cimetière apparaît sur le cadastre établit par BUGNON.
En l'An IV (1795) de nouvelles destructions ont lieu.
L’église Notre-Dame cesse et les carreaudages de l’édifice vont former les murs de rives de la Plaine, soutenir les chaussées des rues sous la côte et derrière le couvent.
Puis en 1472, le couvent des Cordeliers en dehors des murs fortifiés possède aussi son église dédiée à Sainte-Marthe.
Depuis la démolition de Notre-Dame en 1795, il n’y a plus d’église utilisable à Raon.
L’ancien curé Dom François Grégoire rentre à la ville en l’An X (1802) et prête serment de fidélité à la constitution..
