A little bit about us: First, I am a Mom myself.And a grandmother.
I decided to do daycare,for various reasons ,the foremost being this: 5 yrs ago, I was invited to attend the "Wings" conference in Astoria.While there, I looked around and saw all the "younger" moms there with me.
A light came on in my head! Why dont I provide a service for these moms while they try and better themselves with schooling? So I began my journey.
At first, I did exempt care, meaning I could take care of three children with out the licensing in place.
that became a problem, when I began to get calls for more spots.
So, after 2 1/2 yrs I started the process of licensing.
It was an arduous one, because, our house is 150 yrs old.
When the licensing agent came out, there were many repairs to be done BEFORE, we could even start the process.
So, about another year in and we replaced old, very old windows.
with double paned ones, which i might add was a great idea, because it cut down my electric bill! We scraped, painting,scraped,and painted, and finally we felt we could call up again...In May of 2013 we did that and we PASSED...I became a licensed daycare provider.
Whats the difference, you ask? Licensing gives us more opportunity to branch out for more families who NEED daycare! And the need for their children to be in a safe, smoke free (never have) environment.
I became CPR* trained, First Aid* and food handlers* ready.
And, when your licensed you are governed by state regs, so there is someone that you will answer to and get advice from.
There is a list of do's and a longer list of dont's.
At our daycare we have a massive play yard, and when weather permits we are out there playing.During that time we learn a lot of things: sharing,kindness,patience,acceptance,diversity(cuz we all don't dress the same or look alike).
We learn how to take turns,and help younger kids doing so also!And, that's not all !In doing that we say..go play on that blue swing, or ride on that red wagon, learning, while ordinary playing !Inadvertently, they learn their colors too! And thats all before lunch!Counting is taught in repitition, as we count our steps in and out!Look at my pictures and you will see some of our lunch surprises! Someone asked me once " Do you JUST do daycare"? Do I JUST DO DAYCARE? You see my thought there...If this routine appeals to you for your little ones? Then I"m your gal! Did I say we live in a country setting? Well, we do! Lots of interaction with nature and animals..Remember, this..where you have your precious bundles placed, is very important..they will learn HER/HIS morals and ways..be vigilant in your search and find that perfect match!.
