Detailed description is This group began in February 2017, when Representative Rothfus and his staff repeatedly denied constituents’ requests for a Town Hall meeting.
Since then, our focus has expanded from our continued requests to town halls to include voicing our concerns.
In February 2017, PA12 for Progress began as a group of likeminded progressive constituents requesting that Rothfus hold a town hall.
Out of denied requests blossomed the weekly demonstration, “Where’s Rothfus Wednesdays” began in February 2017 when Representative Rothfus and his staff repeatedly denied constituents’ requests for a Town Hall meeting.
Our group returned week after week to the Ross Township office to press the issue, but promises of various forums were broken and to this day, Rothfus has never held a Town Hall meeting..

In frustration, constituents began to rally outside the office every Wednesday at noon holding signs to inform passersby on busy Babcock Blvd of their Congressman’s inaccessibility and lack of accountability.
We also began tracking Rothfus’ voting record and positions on the issues, meeting with staff to express our dissatisfaction with his votes on healthcare, the environment, immigration, women's rights, and consumer protection as well as his refusal to stand up to the White House and Republican leadership on issues of government integrity and ethics..

Our weekly protests have grown in size as constituents have become increasingly aware of the need for progressive change in PA 12.
Some weeks, we protest in partnership with other groups including SEIU, Sierra Club, One PA, Planned Parenthood and Make the Road to make our voices heard in solidarity on issues of common concern.
We also conduct occasional “flash” protests as events of the day demand, reaching out to people by email and Facebook to join in.

We will continue to protest and to meet with Rothfus staff, presenting a detailed agenda of issues that concern us.
We continue to seek a Town Hall meeting and persist in our demand that Congressman Rothfus put his country ahead of partisan politics and be a voice for his everyday constituents, not the wealthy donors and corporate interests.
