Awards exist for theater production -- acting, directing, etc -- but the written play is sadly overlooked...

We are very proud to present the WAMM Out of the Wings Awards for playwrights and the written play..

Playwrights are invited to enter their full length plays (no one act or 10-minute plays, and at this time, no musicals please), published or not-yet published.
Plays must be at least 60 pages in length..

Judging is based on criteria that includes writing, ability to cast, ability to produce, ability to be believed, and clarity of instruction.
We have gathered together a collection of judges from across the United States, all of whom have extensive careers and experience in theater..

A winner and runner up will be named in each category.
If the plays are not yet published, they will be offered a publishing contract, and all winners will be included in our catalogue to be sent out to all theater and production organizations, clubs and companies..

All winners will also be considered for the grand prize, which will be a professional reading of their play, complete with video of the reading, done in front of an audience for feedback.
There will be a First, Second and Third place overall winner named each year..

All winning plays, whether published or not, will be provided with an Out of the Wings seal they can apply.
