Our intention is to bring this opportunity to Oro Medonte/Orillia families, with prospective students aged 3-6, in the near future! We are a team of dedicated educators (and mothers!) who believe strongly in the benefits of children learning and playing in outdoor environments on a regular basis.
A brief description of our combined credentials and experience include:.
-a certified teacher (Ontario College of Teachers) specialized in play-based, child-directed learning with over 8 years of teaching experience.
- a certified yoga teacher with specific training and experience instructing kids yoga.
- BSc.
in Natural Science; BSc in Kinesiology and BA in Native Studies.
- 6 years of Outdoor Education programming working with children in the outdoors.
- wilderness hiking and canoe guiding experience and training.
- french language skills.
- homeschool teaching with an emphasis on Waldorf philosophy and environmental based principles.
- passion for organic gardening; wild edibles; sustainable living; .
- current first aid/CPR certifications.
In addition, we will be taking the Forest School Canada Practitioners course, a course that has recently been developed to build strong, coherent, and reputable forest school communities of practice across Canada..
