The Ombudsman oversees more than 1,000 bodies, including provincial ministries, Crown corporations, administrative tribunals, agencies, boards, school boards, universities, and municipalities, and deals with more than 20,000 complaints a year..

The Ombudsman CANNOT investigate complaints about private companies or individuals, doctors, lawyers, decisions of judges or courts, the Ontario Cabinet or the federal government, or about hospitals and long-term care homes, children’s aid societies, or police.
