2013-2014 “My experiences with Debbie have been wonderful! Debbie provides excellent horse training at a very reasonable price.
Her written training agreement identifies what she will provide in the way of care and training and the responsibilities of both parties.
I appreciate her approach of asking me beforehand what my expectations are with my horse when training is finished.
She then evaluates my horse’s level of knowledge within the first few days of training and provides frequent updates of my horse’s progress.
Debbie’s high level of skill allows her to be flexible in working through any trouble areas that may arise during training.
Her willingness to also work with me and make sure that I feel comfortable with my horse’s level of training when she’s finished is priceless!".

“In the summer of 2010 my neighbors hired Debbie to train their two horses.
In meeting Debbie I immediately liked and connected with her.
I am a 56-year-old woman living her teenage girl dream of owning a horse.
Right after my 50th birthday we moved onto a 10 acres patch of heaven right outside Blue Grass.
Our horse family includes Dusty a 23-year-old mare, Roni a 22-year-old gelding and Holly a 12-year-old pony bought for grand children.
Dusty may be 23 but she has a lot of spirit and attitude and I like that.
But I did not get the full enjoyment of my horse until I was able to get up and personal with training, hers and mine.
As Debbie has worked with us it became evident that we could get farther faster if I sent Dusty for a month of hands on personal training with Debbie.
I did this in May 2011.
It was the longest month of my life and I had to put my pennies together but it was worth every cent.
She is a totally different horse.
The day I picked her up Debbie gave me groundwork exercises, which we complete on a daily basis; this has helped Dusty maintain the respect that is so important to our relationship.
I use to have to back her up into a corner just to be able to mount her.
This is no longer an issue; she stands stock still where ever I need her to be.
I had given up on showing Dusty at horse shows she was always so nervous, one show she bucked and ran across the arena.
With Debbie’s assistance we recently went to a show where we entered in an adult walk/trot class.
It was just my goal to enter and make it through the class in one piece.
Dusty stayed relaxed and focused on staying slow and steady/head kept in correct position.
It was a proud tearful moment when they called the places that out of 9 horses we received a third place, a tearful heartfelt moment of accomplishment.
We have a creek in the middle of our acreage.
I have not had the guts to cross that creek until recently.
Dusty needed a bit of prodding and assurance to keep going forward but cross it she did.
The more important lesson here is that with the continued support from Debbie my determination and confidence in my horse and my own belief in my own ability got us across that creek as well as around the show ring.
There are no words that come close to describe how well that feels.
So whatever your equine needs or concerns are I strongly recommend that you include Debbie Szych in reaching your equine goals, you won’t be disappointed.” .

“During the summer of 2010 I sent my 9 year old mare and 8 year old gelding to Debbie Szych to be trained for one month.
The results were amazing! Before the training, my mare, Cloie, would rear if she was startled or nervous about doing something I asked her to do.
She was skittish on trail rides and as much as I loved riding, I was afraid of her.
(This was after professional training by someone else when she was 3 years old).
Now she is a completely different horse.
She still squirms every once in a while, but she will not rear and she is no longer terrified of crossing streams.
I now have a horse that trusts and respects me.
One year ago, I would have never thought my whole family (myself, husband, 3 year old, and 5 year old) would be going on one-and-a-half to two hour trail rides on our 2 horses.”.
“Debbie has also given my husband and I riding lessons after the horses were trained.
This has helped more than ever! Now I can ask Cloie to do the things she was taught.
We recently side-passed over the length of a 12 foot 2×4 board.
This is something I didn’t even know you could ask a horse to do.
My husband had never ridden horses before he met me.
His posture, lightness, and comfort on a horse has greatly improved since Debbie has worked with him.
He listens to her and does what she says (Hmmm… Maybe she should start training husbands!).”.
“Since last summer, Debbie has also been doing our farrier work.
Cloie has never really had problems, but the gelding, Chase, has had club feet and imbalances since he was young, although he was never lame.
Our previous farrier never corrected these.
Now his hooves are angled correctly, and he must be more comfortable.”.
“Overall, the money I have spent in the last 9 months on these horses is the best money I have ever spent.
I wish I had found Debbie Szych years ago.
I recommend her to any beginner or intermediate rider that needs help with lessons and she does excellent work trimming hooves.
Her horse breaking and training skills and technique are beyond my expectations.
If you love your horses, hiring Debbie will be the best thing you could ever do!” .

“I have not had the opportunity to meet Debbie in person and I hope to some day but, I am the proud owner of Poco Bay May! Debbie trained May and did an awesome job.
When I was acquiring about May she was very honest and kept telling me – “I train horses for a living and I also give lessons.
The place I work with now (Meadow Equine Center) is a great place and we are in the business to sell good horses.
If I didn’t think May was a great horse I wouldn’t tell you that! I have turned people away from buying a horse because it was not a good match for the riding level.
I really think you need to come and look at her – I think you would really like her.” Well, Debbie was right.
I had been horse shopping online and had looked at several horses and actually was in the area to purchase another horse that didn’t work out and all for a good reason. So my daughter and I met up with Anna that day – Debbie couldn’t be there because she had to work.
So Anna and her parents (Jack and Becky) showed us May for Debbie.
May did awesome.
She was so well behaved for a 4 y/o we couldn’t believe she was 4.
May was very well trained and had exceptional ground manners – she was the best horse out of all of the horses we had looked at.
It was my 14 y/o daughter who said “Mom she’s the one! So we brought May home that day and she trailered wonderfully and we had a long cold drive ahead of us.
I have talked alot with Debbie on the phone and thru email since we were unable to meet in person.
She has answered all my questions in regards to May and helped with lots of advice and continues to do so.My daughter and I couldn’t be happier with May.
Thanks Debbie for your honesty and for selling us a great horse! Aslo a special thanks to Anna, Becky and Jack for taking time out of their day to show us May and make our purchasing experience a joyful one.
Thanks for the coffee and cookies and most of all for May!” .
May God Bless.

“Over the past 30 years as a horse trainer and 6 years as riding instructor at The University of Findlay, I have taught hundreds of young and old horse enthusiasts.
Seldom do I run across a young person that really wants to know my perspective on the psychology of horse training instead of how to quickly produce an end product.
Deb Szych was one of those inquisitive students that wanted to learn how the horse was thinking.”.
“While being a student here at Findlay she was given some very challenging horses that many students would have given up on or at least became negative and frustrated toward.
Through her determination and strong work ethics she did figure out how her horses thought and dealt with them to produce very positive results.”.
“Deb’s future is very bright and her fresh positive, determined attitude will accomplish many wonderful things for the horse industry.
I would strongly recommend to horse owners to consider Deb when selecting an individual to work with their horses.”.

“I have known and ridden with Debbie for 5yrs.
Not only is she a wonderful person and a pleasure to be around, but Debbie is great with horses.
One particular horse I remember Debbie training came to her as a 5yr old with very little training.
The horse was unresponsive to the bit, ran instead of loping, and did not guide, among other things.
After a few short months of working with the horse, Debbie had him loping and jogging slow with a headset, doing difficult horsemanship patterns well, and a family was even interested in buying the horse for their young daughter to use in 4-H.
Debbie is calm and confident when she works with horses.
I trust her to train any horse and have often asked for her help when having problems with my own horses.”.
