Detailed description is We breed High Quality Horses to be used first in the classroom.
From there our horses can go anywhere from the ranch to the show pen.

Here in the OPSU Equine Department we strive to breed user friendly horses.
These horses are used in the classroom to teach students more about horses and the colt starting process.
In addition to good minded they have to be athletic.
That is why we cross are good mares donated by Rick Furnish and the Hitch Ranch, along with Mark Freeman and the Freeman Ranch with stallions from the Solum Brothers and Susan Russell.
These stallions include Sweet Like Pepto, Hollywood Vintage, Roosters Wrangler and Generatin A Spark.
The OPSU Equine Science Program (BS) offers students the valuable experience of hands on training.
With a top notch horse barn, round pens, large outdoor arena and heated indoor arena students take part in every aspect of the training.
From the first halter to the first saddle students get to learn how to start colts at the speed at which they are comfortable.
And with the Equine Center being so close to campus students can come to the barn anytime they wish.
