Udruženje Košarkaški klub "SPARS" osnovano je u ljeto 2005.godine u Sarajevu, sa primarnim ciljem popularizacije moralnih vrijednosti kao i sportskog duha djece i omladine..
U samom početku osnivanja kluba okupljen je veliki broj polaznika u školu košarke, starosne dobi od 6 do 12 godina.
Upravo prvi polaznici bili su okosnica za dalji rad i formiranje takmičarskih selekcija.
Broj članova u školama košarke, koje su raspoređene po puntkovima u cijelom gradu Sarajevu, iz godine u godinu je rastao.
Koordinator škole košarke je poznati sportski radnik Senad Redžić, koji je dolaskom u klub počeo primjenjivati stečeno iskustvo iz predhodnih radnih sredina, te se može konstatovati da smo najorganizovanija i najmasovnija škola košarke na području grada Sarajeva i BiH..
SPARS po okončanju takmičarske sezone svake godine organizuje košarkaški kamp za svoje članove, koji se održava u Zaostrogu u poznatom sportskom kompletksu BOSSINA, stari PARTIZAN.
Prvi kamp organiziran je 2006.
godine.
Na kampu je do sada uzelo učešće više od 2000 polaznika.
Redovni gosti i prijatelji kampa su eminetna imena bh.
košarke i okruženja.
Reprezentativnci naše države uvjek su sudionici košarkaškog kampa, te su svoje stečeno iskustvo i znanje prenosili na naše mlade polaznile.

Kvalitet kao standard je bio primaran od samog početka, te ne čudi činjenica da su već u startu okupljeni najbolji treneri za rad sa mladima, na području regije.
Kombinacija iskusnih i mladih trenera, punih entuzijazma i želje za prenošenjem znanja, je bila ključ uspjeha.
Danas taj tim predvodi Marko Trbić, trener seniorske reprenzentacije BiH.
Stručnu pomoć i savjet je uvijek nesebično pružao velikan bosansko-hercegovačke košarke, Sabit Hadžić..
Osim pokretanja jedne od najboljih škola košarke u regionu, SPARS je oformio i sve omladinske selekcije: mini basket, pionire, kadete, juniore, te od 2010.
i seniorsku ekipu, koju čine uglavnom igrači iz kadetskog i juniorskog sastava.
Upravo je kvalitetna škola košarke, baza koja je već sad iznjedrila kvalitetne igrače u pomenutim kategorijama..
SPARS je u sezoni 2006./2007., te 2007./2008., postigao zapažene rezultate u konkurenciji košarkašica.
Naime, u pomenutim sezonama, KK SPARS je nastupao u najvišem rangu takmičenja, Premier liga BiH, te ostvario zapažene rezultate.
Već u prvoj sezoni nastupa u Premier ligi BiH, osvojeno je drugo mjesto u Kupu BiH..
Standard je postavljen, a u narednom periodu će se pokazati da samo kvalitetan rad može dati kvalitetne igrače i buduće šampione..
