Aktris , pembicara, dan penulis yang merupakan sulung dari tiga bersaudara ini lahir dari pasangan Sulyanto dan Yunifah Lismawati. OSD menyelesaikan kuliahnya di Fakultas Ilmu Pengetahuan Budaya, Universitas Indonesia pada tahun 2012. Icon aktris muslimah yang telah banyak menginspirasi remaja tanah air ini, tercatat sebagai mahasiswi terbaik dan berprestasi di kampusnya. Diantaranya sebagai mahasiswa baru terbaik OKK UI 2007, mahasiswa baru terbaik PSA MABIM FIB UI 2007, dan mahasiswi berprestasi bidang seni FIB UI 2010. Setelah meraih gelar sarjana, OSD menjadi santriwati program Tahfidzul Qur'an di Rumah Qur'an, Depok. Dilanjutkan dengan mempelajari bahasa arab di universitas Umm Al Qura, Makkah pada tahun 2012. Di tahun yang sama, karena kecintaannya pada dunia pendidikan dan anak-anak, OSD melanjutkan studi pascasarjananya di bidang studi Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD), Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ). Saat ini OSD tercatat pula sebagai mahasiswa pascasarjana di bidang studi Kajian Islam dan Psikologi di Universitas Indonesia. Sejak sekolah dasar hingga SMA, OSD meraih predikat juara kelas dan sering mewakili sekolah dalam berbagai macam perlombaan. Ia tak hanya berprestasi di bidang akademik tapi juga di bidang yang lain yang ia raih semasa karirnya. Sebut saja di antaranya Aktis Wanita Terbaik versi Islamic Movie days, Aktris Pendatang Baru wanita terbaik dan aktris pendatang baru wanita terfavorit untuk film Ketika Cinta Bertasbih di Indonesia Movie Awards 2010. OSD telah membintangi beberapa film dan sinetron yakni : Ketika Cinta Bertasbih 1&2 (2010), Ketika Cinta Bertasbih Spesial Ramadhan (2010), Ketika Cinta Bertasbih Meraih ridho Illahi (2011), dan Dari Sujud ke Sujud (2011). Ia turut mengisi soundtrack untuk film dan sinetron Dalam Mihrab Cinta (2011) dan Dari Sujud ke Sujud (2011). Selain itu, OSD juga telah menulis 3 buku bestseller yang berjudul Melukis Pelangi catatan hati Oki Setiana Dewi (2011), Sejuta Pelangi pernik cinta Oki Setiana Dewi (2012) dan Cahaya di Atas Cahaya(2012). Ketiga bukunya telah di bedah di berbagai tempat di Indonesia dan luar negeri, yakni Malaysia, Singapore, Jeddah dan Makkah, dll. Buku keempatnya berjudul HIjab Im in Love (2013) merupakan karya terbarunya yang paling berbeda karena OSD mengeluarkan pula album perdananya dengan judul yang sama. Album Hijab Im in Love (2013) ini dinyanyikan bersama adiknya, Shindy OSD adalah pribadi yang senang mengajar dan belajar. Sejak duduk di bangku SMA, OSD menjadi guru mengaji di TPA (Taman Pendidikan Al Qur’an) untuk anak-anak dan ibu-ibu. Sejak tahun 2009, OSD aktif mengisi berbagai seminar kemuslimahan dan kepemudaan, juga aktif dalam berbagai kegiatan sosial. Saat ini ia menjadi duta untuk Anak-anak Rumah Autis (2012). Ia pun pernah ditunjuk sebagai duta Internet Sehat dan Aman oleh kementrian Komunikasi dan Informatika 2010.
