Erma’s Original Frozen Custard began as a small roadside stand outside of downtown Utica in 1942 simply known as “The Custard Stand”.
Originally, special frozen custard batch freezers were used to serve only vanilla custard in bowls to local patrons.
Over the decades the menu grew by expanding flavors and options.
Erma picked up where “The Custard Stand” left off .
In 1974 she purchased the small store on Auburn Road renaming it “Erma’s Frozen Custard Stand”.

We have continued “Erma’s” tradition today through our creation of many fan favorites and the attention to detail it takes to make great frozen custard like she did.
