Set in sterling silver or 14kt gold fill Ocean Obsession is a local company owned by fourth generation Maui girl, Judy Oliveira-Antone.
Her Portuguese ancestors arrived in Hawaii in the late 1800's as indentured servants to work in the pineapple and sugar cane fields like many other nationalities at the time..
Her love for the ocean led to many years of collecting shells, seaglass, and many other items the ocean so graciously offered.
Judy holds a degree in Environmental Studies and now "treasure hunts" for shells that have died naturally.
This ensures that there will be shells for future generations.
All shells in the collection are drilled and buffed by hand then added to precious metals to form beautiful, wearable jewelry.
No varnishes or buffing compounds have been used so please return your shells to the ocean when you no longer treasure them.
All jewelry pieces are lovingly designed using techniques passed down by Grandma Oliveira who often used shells in her craft work..

WHAT IS SEAGLASS?.
Seaglass is broken glass (bottles, jars, insulator caps, old car tail lights) or pottery that has found its way into the ocean and has been tumbled by wave action.
"A" quality seaglass has spent 30 years or longer in the ocean and has become its own gemstone.
It takes on a very sugary and smooth but translucent quality.
We also use "hapa" seaglass which has spent half the time in the ocean and may still have some shine.
All of our glass comes from Hawaiian oceans (mostly Maui) and is never machine tumbled!
