Detailed description is Nuestra Escuela, es una organización no gubernamental de base comunitaria, incorporada el 11 de agosto de 2000 bajo las leyes del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico, con el propósito de ofrecer servicios educativos a jóvenes y adultos.
Nuestra Escuela fue fundada el 11 de agosto del año 2000.
Es el legado de Ana Mercedes Méndez Jiménez, hija de Justo Méndez Arámburu.
Ana Mercedes trascendió a la vida eterna a sus quince años, el 10 de septiembre de 1997.
En una visita al sueño de Justo le comunicó: “Papi, vamos a hacer una escuela”.
La contestación de Justo fue: “Beba, ¿cómo nosotros vamos a hacer una escuela”? Y la respuesta de Ana Mercedes fue: “Sí Papi, vamos a hacer una escuela, Nuestra Escuela, déjate llevar”.
Justo lo compartió con su esposa Ana Yris Guzmán Torres quien de inmediato asumió la encomienda junto a Justo y el resto es historia.

Nuestra Escuela cuenta con cinco centros de enseñanza: Caguas Pueblo, La Barra (comunidad rural de Caguas), Loíza, Vieques y en San Juan, nuestro centro de educación primaria, Nuestra Escuelita.
Sirve a más de 300, niños, jóvenes y sus familias en un modelo de apoyo bio-sico-social-académico donde los estudiantes completan el Cuarto Año de escuela superior, continúan estudios post secundarios y/o ingresan al mundo del trabajo..

Nuestra Escuela ha recibido la Medalla Sor Isolina Ferré por Excelencia en el Servicio al Prójimo y el Premio a la Solidaridad de la Fundación Miranda.
Ha sido catalogada como Programa Ejemplar por el Departamento de Educación y “Best Practice Project” por el Departamento de Educación de Estados Unidos.
Además, fue reconocida como “Escuela que hace Escuela” por la Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos.
