โรงเรียนอนุบาลสาธิต คณะศึกษาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ จัดตั้งขึ้นโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อใช้เป็นสถานที่ศึกษาค้นคว้า ทดลอง และวิจัยของคณาจารย์ และนักศึกษาตลอดจนเป็นแหล่งฝึกประสบการณ์วิชาชีพของนักศึกษา ทั้งระดับปริญญาตรี และระดับบัณฑิตศึกษาในสาขาวิชาที่เกี่ยวข้อง.

โรงเรียนอนุบาลสาธิต เดิมชื่อศูนย์พัฒนาเด็ก เปิดดำเนินการเมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคม พ.ศ.2531รับนักเรียนอายุ 2-3 ขวบ เข้าเรียนในชั้นบริบาลและชั้นอนุบาล 1.

ในปี พ.ศ.2537 สภามหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ อนุมัติให้ศูนย์พัฒนาเด็ก เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็นโรงเรียนอนุบาลสาธิต และให้ขยายชั้นเรียนถึงชั้นอนุบาล 3 ในปีการศึกษา 2537และปีการศึกษา 2538 ตามลำดับ.

ต่อมาปี พ.ศ.2541 โรงเรียนอนุบาลสาธิตได้รับอนุมัติจากสภามหาวิทยาลัยฯ ให้ขยายชั้นเรียนถึงระดับชั้นประถมศึกษา ในปีการศึกษา 2546 เปิดสอนถึงชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6.
