Qus: 4).What does the local business do?
Ans: Martial Bednar is living proof that extraordinary things happen to very ordinary people. For behind his “mild-mannered” exterior and very “normal” adult life lies an incredible family story and upbringing that even he sometimes finds hard to believe.
The eighth of nine children (whose names, yes, all begin with the letter “M”), Martial is believed to be the first person in the United States to ever donate bone marrow to two different siblings. Yes, he was the only match for two older brothers who, hard as it is to believe, needed bone marrow transplants to live (in 1996 and 2003, respectively). Remarkable…but that’s just the latest in his family’s series of jaw-dropping journeys—which Martial captures with his engaging, conversational, and heartfelt style in Nine Ms and a Mother Like No Other, his book debut.
Professionally, Martial has built a successful career in communications in Rochester, NY. He currently manages employee communications for one of Rochester’s leading organizations. Prior to that, he was director of public relations at the acclaimed Eastman School of Music. An avid and versatile writer, he holds a bachelor’s degree in English and writing (magna cum laude) from Nazareth College.
A lifelong resident of western New York, Martial’s ongoing journey from messed to blessed includes a 20-year marriage to his college sweetheart, with whom he has one extraordinary son.
