Detailed description is Niederleis ist eine Gemeinde mit Einwohnern im Bezirk Mistelbach in Niederösterreich.GeografieNiederleis liegt im Weinviertel in Niederösterreich am Südostrand der Leiser Berge.
Der Ortsname stammt aus dem Slawischen (letzter Stand der Ortsnamensforschung).
„Lysa“ bedeutet „kahle Stelle“ und dürfte sich auf die Umgebung des Ortsgebietes beziehen.
Die Gründung des Ortes erfolgte wahrscheinlich um 1009.
Der Ortsname taucht aber erst Jahre später in einigen Urkunden auf.
Die Fläche der Gemeinde umfasst 19,54 Quadratkilometer.
10,77 Prozent der Fläche sind bewaldet.
