follow me on twitter : @nkossor.Nick Kossor has been practicing Judo since age 5, inspired by the exciting exploits of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
His parents, Steve and Kathie, introduced him to Judo at the Brandywine Judo School in Thorndale, Pennsylvania, where Sensei Rich Georg taught him traditional Judo technique and discipline.
Nick earned Pennsylvania State Championship awards year after year, winning more than 30 matches in under 10 seconds.
Judo was not Nick’s only sport of choice.
He also excelled in baseball at a young age and was chosen for the 12 year old International Team, which was in contention for a shot at the Little League World Series.
Ultimately, Nick chose Judo over baseball and decided to pursue the dream of competing in the Olympic Games.
His dedication to that dream led him to seek more intensive Judo training under Sensei Lou Moyerman at the Liberty Bell Judo Club in Philadelphia, where he trained for three years and began to scratch the surface of national and international competitions.
Kossor’s biggest leap came at age 16 when he decided to devote himself full-time to Judo training and left friends and family behind in Pennsylvania to move to upstate New York to train with Jason Morris (4x Olympian, ’92 Olympic Silver medalist, and ’93 World Bronze Medalist) at the Jason Morris Judo Center.

Kossor is currently ranked #1 in the United States at 60 kg.
He is both the 2008 and the 2010 US National Champion, and has represented the United States in many international competitions including the 2010, 2011, and 2013 World Championships.
Regarded as a fierce competitor known for his classic technique and understated confidence, Kossor has competed all over the world.
Kossor won Gold and was awarded the coveted "Most Outstanding" athlete honor at the 27th annual New York Open judo tournament in October of 2010 and continues his pursuit of Olympic Gold in 2012.
Off the mat, Kossor has aspirations of medical school and a career as a doctor.
