Cinquenta anos depois, a prova do Freio de Ouro veio para ficar, tornando-se uma importante ferramenta de seleção, uma vez que motivou a otimização da raça, tanto morfológica quanto funcionalmente.
A transmissão da prova pela televisão aumentou a visibilidade do cavalo Crioulo, cujo universo movimenta anualmente R$ 1,28 bilhão.
