Detailed description is We formed our group in August 2011.
We work at creating awareness to the dangers of alcohol & drug use on the developing teen brain.
MyC3 (Mountain Youth Can Change Communities) is a coalition made up of local youth ranging from 7th grade to College.
We started our group in August of 2011 after we attended a CASC (California Association of Student Council) Leadership Training at UC Berkeley in Northern California.
We also attended CASC in 2012 and 2013 at UC Santa Barbara for further leadership training.
We want to make a difference in our community by reducing underage drinking and drug abuse by creating awareness of the .
immediate and long term dangers to the developing teen brain with alcohol and .
drug use..

In our first year, we attended leadership trainings, worked on community service projects, posted red awareness stickers in all the liquor stores to remind adults that providing alcohol to minors is a criminal offense.
In our second and third year we created Public Service Announcements that played on television and before movies at the Maya Cinemas in Bakersfield, CA.
in 2012 and 2013.
In 2012 we presented a workshop at "Leaders in Life" that caters to over 2000 students that are committed to being leaders in their schools and communities.
In 2013 we held our very first Annual Fundraiser "Color the Mountain 5k".
In 2014 we held our very first annual "MyC3 Youth Leadership Conference" for the local 7th grade class in our community and 2nd Annual "Color the Mountain 5k" fundraiser..

We have learned to facilitate meetings, create presentations, and administer public opinion polls.
We meet weekly after school to plan projects, learn new skills, work on presentations, fundraisers and the MyC3 Youth Leadership Conference.
Our ultimate goal is to save lives.
