Our goal is to reduce and possibly eliminate the safety concern by creating a system that focuses on safety.

The inception of My Local Access started while we were on vacation in Jamaica one year.
We love to travel and we thought it would be great if fellow vacationers or tourists could experience travel the way we do- exploring the country with the locals and not sitting around in a resort taking the tour bus to the stereotypical tourist locations.
During our travels, we always have three things in mind: safety, fun and economic development.
We wanted to create a safe system for travelers to have fun while exploring local communities as well as create local economic development by allowing locals to use their automobiles to generate income.
We also wanted to increase the profit for the local shops, bars, restaurants and other places that would normally not experience such benefits when tourists don’t venture beyond the resort.
We put a lot of thought and planning into the development of our system and in the next two years we made connections with local people in countries all over the world with the help of friends and family.

With this concept in mind, we created a two- tier system called the chain-link system and out-of-network system.

The chain link system is based on referrals and a rigorous application process.
All the tour guides registered in the system are a referral from friends or family.
They have also gone through a face-to-face interview with an area coordinator.
This ensures that there is always a way to connect with the tour guide by tracing them back to their referral source.
All in-network tour guides are identified on their profile by our certified seal of approval.

Out-of-network tour guides rank high in our system when they go through a rigorous application process and conduct a face-to-face interview and verification process with a local area coordinator.
For this reason, if you don’t see a country on our list, it’s because a connection has not yet been made in that country.
We prefer to grow slowly so we can control our system and deliver safety..
Additionally, our mobile app allows clients to share their location with friends and family while traveling with a tour guide.
This means that the traveler can be reached at any time while on the tour.
The guide also doesn’t get paid until the traveler confirms that the tour is over and has rated their experience.
