Detailed description is Le musée gallo-romain de Lyon est situé à Lyon, près des théâtres romains, sur la colline de Fourvière, située autrefois au cœur de la cité romaine de Lugdunum.
Il est géré par la Métropole de Lyon.

Le bâtiment est inscrit en bordure du site antique, enterré dans le versant de la colline.
Intérieurement, il est constitué d'une rampe en béton brut descendant en spirale et se ramifiant vers des paliers destinés à l'exposition des collections du musée.L'évocation de la ville antiqueLe musée est aménagé de façon à offrir des vues sur les vestiges encore visibles du Théâtre et de l’Odéon.
Il rassemble les découvertes faites sur le site antique de Lyon, de la région, voire d'ailleurs pour certaines pièces.
On trouve notamment des pierres gravées, des statues, des bijoux, des objets de la vie courante, etc.Un plan en relief de l'ancienne Lugdunum montre la ville, selon les connaissances archéologiques de 1975 et les théories d'Amable Audin, aménagée essentiellement sur la colline de Fourvière et dominant l'île qui deviendra l'actuelle presqu'île.
Cette maquette a été remplacée en 2015 par une autre dotée d'une animation lumineuse projetant l'historique de la cité sur une maquette du relief de la colline de Fourvière.
