Detailed description is Located 7 miles north of Stony Plain, Alberta on Hwy 779 and adjacent to Muir Lake Community School, Muir Lake Community Hall is the home base of a vibrant rural Alberta community.
The original Muir Lake Community Hall was constructed in 1929 and was used for a variety of activities including dances, school Christmas concerts and for a time, Sunday school.
The Community Hall is operated by a volunteer board known as the Muir Lake Community League (MLCL)..
In 1973, the MLCL decided to build a new hall at it present site.
Land was purchased and again this became a community project with all members contributing many hours of volunteer labor.
Wedding receptions, family parties, meetings and dances are only a few of the activities that were held there.
The hall also became the home of the Muir Lake Playschool and Muir Lake Kindergarten..
The hall has had several expansions over the years, including the addition on the north end for storage and an upstairs meeting room, a BBQ shed, as well as a paved parking area for the hall and school.
