Detailed description is Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy, formerly the Patrick Springs COGOP, located at 436 Mountain View Church Road, Patrick Springs, Va 24133.
The beginning of the church was in the late 1930's at a Brush Arbor meeting held up the road from the church's former location (at Bull Mountain Road/Pleasant View Drive).
Later there was another Brush Arbor meeting the church was formerly located.
The land belonged to Pierce Ratliffe, a local landowner who later gave the land to the church.
Benton Adams was the main carpenter in the building of the first church and neighbors and friends of the community.
Brother and Sister Radford, Brother Walker, and the people of the County Line church came up on Sunday evenings for service.
The church was set in order in 1939.
Green Martin, Lucy Custer's brother, was the first pastor.
A few years after starting the church, some fell by the way and some got married and move away.
This left the church with only a dozen people attending for quite some time.
Delvin Daughtery was a young, red-headed preacher who played a tenor banjo.
He came through and held a revival and then later returned to pastor the church-- he could really charm the crowd.
The church, again, begin to flourish during his tenure and has been going strong ever since.
The building that currently sits on Bull Mountain Road was built by the Manning Family, Griff and Mary Manning, and their sons.
Early 2016, the church purchased the Mountain View Baptist Church from its members.
This was a bittersweet, but wonderful move.
The church was renamed from Patrick Springs to Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy..
