Detailed description is Old School Primitive Baptists worshiping The LORD Jesus Christ in the manner prescribed by the Apostles of old.
Come and worship with us! Brief History of the Church's Restoration:.
.
Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church has recently returned from the brink of death, God is more gracious and more merciful than religious men.
.
.
For a time there was no pastor.
The previous pastor, Elder George McNure, had become feeble and unable to supply the church’s need of a preacher.
He having ceased from being able to fill that capacity, left the stand vacant.
Numbers dwindled in attendance, till the building and facilities were only used for the assembly of just a handful of faithful brethren and sisters.
These faithful saints, came together for singing and praying, as much as they were able, assembling in the meeting house depicted in the picture.
It seemed by any who could make prediction, that the church would soon have to cease from existence and close its doors.
.
.
One day these, that faithfully gathered to pray at the old meeting house, (then devoid of the sound of preaching), decided to attempt finding an elder.
They prayed and hoped, maybe the Lord would restore this place by bringing again a full congregation of believers.
They knew that he could, but did not know if he would.
Trusting in the Lord that He would direct them, and not really knowing where to start, they contacted Elder Joseph Theodore Nettles, pastor at the time of Vidalia Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, of the Upper Canoochee Association.
Elder Joe, as he is called by those who love him, put this handful of isolated brethren and sisters in contact with Elder J.E.
Griffis..
.
Elder J.E.
Griffis, being no doubt moved by the Spirit, agreed to fill appointments to preach to these faithful few.
He returned in subsequent meetings and soon felt a burden upon him for this handful of isolated saints.
He accepted the call to pastor this little flock, and soon there were many members, who had previously left the assembly, returning for worship.
The church saw tearful restoration and growth.
It was as the dead stump of a fallen tree that had budded.
From the ashes of grief and loneliness, the church has blossomed.
Much of the old growth which had withered has revived and new growth has budded.
.
.
Some might think that the recordings posted are crude, both in audio and video; they would be right.
In many ways this is a new church, though its constitution occurred in 1873.
It is like a new plant that has sprouted from an old root.
The church meets every weekend, and has dinner on the grounds each meeting day.
The brethren and sisters often sit around, with joy and love, both talking and visiting with one another, because they are family, family adopted together under the same Heavenly Father.
They need each other for encouragement and zeal.
They read the Bible and have questions.
Often this visitation becomes Biblical discussion, and it could go on for hours, (no exaggeration).
These believers truly love each other and enjoy their time together.
.
.
This church, this body of lovely saints, was as good as dead, and many would have just as well had it so, but God is “a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness…” (Jonah 4:2).
When others expected a sure and certain demise, God heard the cry of a handful of Bible believing saints and caused the failing church to revive.
