Detailed description is Mount Morgan High School opened within the Mount Morgan Technical College in February 1912.
It can rightly claim to be the first high school to open in Queensland.
Mr Harry Tomkys was appointed Principal and remained in this position until he retired in 1932.
The Technical College closed in 1964 but the High School still plays an important role in the life of Mount Morgan..

The main two-story red-brick building in Central Street was opened in 1908 as the Mount Morgan Technical College.
The bricks used in the structure were made locally by Gunthorpe's brickworks situated behind the Railway Station in the area now known as Glen Gordon.
