Prior to World War II, the Japanese who immigrated to the U.S.
and settled in this area created a thriving community which they called "KAWASHIMO" or city by the water.
They brought with them the wonderful tradition of their ritual bathing, which served both as an important social amalgam for the community, and of course a peaceful and serene place to soak and bathe.
Post World War II, these soulful places fell into disrepair and faded into the past.
