Foi fundada em São Paulo, em 1977, sob a denominação de Flama Microinformática, com a proposta pioneira de popularizar o ensino de informática no Brasil.

Em 1981, com quatro unidades em funcionamento na capital paulista, transferiu sua sede para Campinas/SP, onde ganhou identidade definitiva – Microcamp -- e abriu filiais em várias cidades do Estado de São Paulo e Paraná.

Em 1989, a Microcamp chegou a Portugal, onde permaneceu por mais de 15 anos e montou 15 escolas nas principais cidades lusitanas.
