Detailed description is Community & Family Support Center is a social service and community engagement program within the GREATER LAWRENCE COMMUNITY ACTION COUNCIL INC.
The Michael B.
Christensen Community and Family Support Center (CFSC) is a child abuse prevention and family education center that has 9 programs within.
Our programs, in one manner or another, focus on parent and early childhood education.
We work towards 5 major goals: increasing parental and child resiliency, helping develop a support network and concrete supports in time of need, helping parents understand child development while teaching affective parenting skills and developing social and emotional competency in all family members.
Our programs also focus on community education and collaboration.
We have several community partners located throughout the Merrimack Valley and Essex County..
The CFSC provides the following:.
• Strength based family education.
• Networking and leadership opportunities through our CFCE Council .
• Information about local education resources including Public Schools.
• Information about resources and referrals to other agencies i.e.
WIC, local EEC providers…etc..
• Financial Literacy.
• Parent Education classes.
• Parent Aide Program – case management.
• Parent Child Home Program (PCHP).
• Supervised Visitation Center.
• Early Literacy play groups .
• Parent engagement activities.
• Coaching and mentoring for the QRIS system .
• Resource, referral and guidance for the Educator and Provider Support Grant (R3P).
• ESOL for Family Child Care Providers .
• Wrap around services for the FOCUS program at SPARK Academy and The South Lawrence East 7th and 8th grades.
• Assist in transition activities with Early Intervention and the public schools.
The CFSC is in partnership with the Exchange Clubs of the Merrimack Valley and receives funding from.
