I work with and know so many of you here in Brooks, from newly arrived immigrants to long time residents and the one thing we all share in common is a desire to live a “good life”.
The question is, what constitutes a “good life”? We as a society sometimes get so caught up in what is going on around us provincially, federally and even around the rest of the world and we often lose sight of the fact that we live in a municipality where we can make a big difference in our own quality of life.
This doesn’t mean we ignore or remain silent on what is going on outside of our community but by focusing more on what we have got and what we can do will give us a more positive and more informed perspective on what goes on outside Brooks..
With the current down turn in our economy now is the time to pull together as a community and use our hardship as an opportunity to explore other options.
Most Oil & Gas sector workers are talented professionals with many skills.
I would hate to see them and their families leave Brooks only to take non-oil & gas jobs somewhere else, when we could have provided the opportunity.
No matter where you were born or raised, if you live, work and pay taxes in Brooks we want you to stay and help make Brooks the best it can be..
I strongly encourage YOU THE VOTER to make this election about choosing someone who is motivated and passionate about serving our city.

Economic Development: I believe the City of Brooks needs to work with our local businesses and entrepreneurs as well as look outside the community to attract new business.
What businesses would you like to see in Brooks that would make your quality of life better? By helping stop money from leaving our community we all benefit.
Not only would more retail options create convenience but it would also save citizen money on travel costs and from impulse spending on products already offered for sale in Brooks..

Positive Image: Brooks is a great place to live.
Unfortunately, we as a city don’t do enough to let others know this.
When we as a community do something incredible, we never “toot our own horn”.
Image is everything when it comes to attracting people, families, students and work professionals such as teachers, doctors, builders and businesses owners.
I believe with a few marketing principles put into action we could potentially see big results for the better.

Highway Development: Do you know we are one of the only cities in Alberta that has not developed our highway corridor with restaurants, retail and attractions? Everyday thousands of dollars of potential income drive past our city.
With 160 km between Bassano and Medicine Hat., we have a great opportunity that could have tremendous benefits to Brooks and needs to be seriously explored..
