Detailed description is Gospel The story of Menifee Church of Christ dates back to the late 19th Century.
Although facts concerning the churches inception are a bit sketchy, the earliest oral records indicate that Menifee was established when members of the Church of Christ sought to evangelize members of a Christian Church located southeast of Plumerville, AR in the Plumerville Bottoms..
The year 1927 was pivotal for the Menifee Church.
That year a severe flood completely covered the entire Plumerville Bottom forcing many in the community to temporarily relocate from Plumerville to Menifee, a distance of less than five miles.
In 1930, another flood forced all the families living in the Bottoms to abandon their homes, never to return again.
This second, and permanent, relocation was directly responsible for the establishment of the Church in Menifee..
After moving from the Plumerville Bottoms, the Menifee Church first worshipped with about fifteen members under a "bush harbor".
A few years later, the church was able to build a small tin house on property donated by J.T.
and Effie Winston Talley.
The main leaders at this time were : G.B.
Hervey, who served as minister, Hugh Ackling and Lawrence Strickland Sr..
It was during this time that many notable preachers conducted gospel meetings.
These preachers included: Marshall Keeble, G.P.
Bowser, R.N.
Hogan, James Stewart and a local preacher named Warren Williams..
Some time later, a large wood frame building was constructed on another property donated by the Talley family.
However, in 1960, that same building was demolished by a tornado.
This event seemed to galvanize the congregation, which continued to display resillency in the face of adversity.
In response, the Talley family donated the ground on which the church now stands..

Harding Byrd, who initially served as Sunday School Superintendent, replaced Hervey and served for over 30 years..
Brother Byrd's tenure as minister was followed by a steady succession of local ministers.
