Detailed description is Message from Mayor Bob Buckhorn regarding his Neighborhood University: As long as I have been in public service, investing in our neighborhoods has always been one of my top priorities.
I believe strong neighborhoods provide the foundation for a great city.
My commitment to our neighborhoods extends to growing the next generation of neighborhood leaders so that they can continue the progress we have made..

This year I re-organized the Neighborhood Services Department and recently launched the Neighborhood University under the leadership of Jake Slater, Administrator of Neighborhood Services.
During this 12-week course, participants will learn skills to help establish and maintain successful neighborhood organizations as well as experience your City Administration on a whole new level.

I recognize that a leadership position within a neighborhood association is a serious commitment that impacts your immediate neighborhood, and the community around you.
A neighborhood leader needs to have the vision and the ability to build consensus, to delegate duties and authority to others as well as to encourage neighborhood involvement and maximize talent.
A good leader recognizes the value in changing leadership and helps the association cultivate future leaders.
It is our hope that through the Neighborhood University, we will be able to help both current and future neighborhood presidents whom we rely on to be the eyes, ears and voice back to us.
