Detailed description is Welcome to Matthew Salem Camp - Serving children with special needs for 50 Years!!! 2017 Camp Dates: July 30 - August 5th! Matthew Salem was a young boy who wanted to go to a summer camp.
Local camps would not welcome him because he had cystic fibrosis and required medical treatment throughout the day.
A pediatric respiratory therapist and several of his friends, who knew Matthew, decided to create a camp that would serve children with cystic fibrosis.
Unfortunately, Matthew died shortly before the first camp was held but his legacy lives on each summer through his namesake - the Matthew Salem Camping Foundation.
Today, MSC accepts children with special needs including (but not limited to) cystic fibrosis, asthma, cancer, sickle cell anemia, scleroderma, autism, down's syndrome and learning disabilities.
