The Maryland Student Legislature is a 501(c)3 nonprofit Maryland corporation.
The organization was created in 1989 by then-University of Maryland student William Troy Simmons to educate students at Maryland’s diverse colleges and universities about the political process, foster debate on the myriad complex issues facing our state and municipalities, and encourage political action by Maryland’s young people.
