Since our inception over 35 years ago, Maple Island has built more than 1,000 authentic, hand-crafted log structures.
Our log crafters are highly skilled in the art and sience of hand-crafting.
Logs retain their unique personalities and are naturally tapered.
They haven't been milled to conform to a uniform shape and thickness, as is done with precut style homes..

Red pine logs are selectively harvested from the forests of Michigan.
They're stripped of bark to aid the drying process and later hand-peeled using a draw-knife, which brings out the natural beauty and grain in the wood..

Each home is first built in our log yard.
Standard sizing uses 11" to 14" butt diameter logs.
We can provide larger 15"to 17" logs and with a little notice, even truly massive timbers of 17" to 22" in diameter.
The average shell can be completed in about 10 weeks.
The shell is than taken apart, numbered and shipped to the owners site, where it is reconstructed in approximately 3 days.
