1992 - Special Study in Arabic Language (LP Bahasa Arab Jakarta).
1995 - Specialised Study in Fiqh (Dar Al Mustafa, Yemen).
1997 - Higher Secondary (Al Azhar University, Egypt).
2001 - BA in Islamic Legislation & Law (Tafsir) (Al Azhar University, Egypt).
2006 - Masters in Al Quran and Sunnah Studies (IIUM, Malaysia).

1974 – 1992.
Beliau dilahirkan pada hari Jumaat, 12 April 1974, selepas solat Jumaat di Bondowoso, Jawa Timur, Indonesia.
Beliau anak ke-2 dari 6 adik-beradik (4 lelaki dan 2 perempuan).
Beliau daripada keluarga sederhana yang hidup di sebuah perkampungan yang didiami oleh ramai para ulama' dan terdapat juga beberapa buah pondok pesantren di situ.
Sewaktu membesar, beliau berguru dengan:.

Pada usia beliau 21 tahun, dengan restu Ayahanda, Al Habib Abu Bakar bin Salim Al Hamid, dan Bonda, beliau pergi ke Hadhramaut, Yemen untuk meneruskan pengajian.
Di Hadhramaut, beliau berguru dengan:.

Selepas pengajian beliau di Hadhramaut, Yemen, beliau pergi ke Mesir pula.
Selama 5 tahun di Universiti Al Azhar, beliau terus berguru mendalami ilmu-ilmu agama dengan:.

Setelah menerima ijazah (degree) dalam jurusan 'Islamic Legislation and Law' dari Universiti Al Azhar, beliau meneruskan kembara ilmunya di Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA), Malaysia, dalam jurusan Al Quran dan Sunnah (Master).
Dalam tahun 2004, beliau bernikah dan sejak itu, beliau serta isteri telah dianugerahkan dengan 3 orang puteri..

DARUL MURTADZA.
Dalam tahun 2004, Al Habib Abdul Qadir Al Jufri, pengasas Darul Murtadza berpindah ke Kota Tinggi, Johor.
Oleh kerana itu, Al Habib Abdul Qadir Al Jufri telah memohon Al Habib Ali Zaenal Abidin Al Hamid untuk mengambil alih.
Alhamdulillah, sejak dari itu, Darul Murtadza telah berkembang dari awalnya sebagai pengajian di rumah Al Habib Ali Zaenal Abidin Al Hamid dengan jemaah 10 – 20 orang ke sekarang, di Surau Al Hidayah (AU3) dengan jemaah yang makin bertambah.

Latarbelakang pendidikan dan pembangunan diri Al Habib Ali Zaenal Abidin Al Hamid yang dinamik dan menyeluruh, diregukan dengan bakat semulajadi dan kemahiran berdakwah yang telah diasah dan dibentuk oleh guru-guru beliau, menjadikan beliau seorang pendidik dan pendakwah yang bukan sahaja dikenali dengan kehebatan beliau di medan ilmu dan dakwah, tetapi juga sama dikenali kerana akhlak dan adab beliau yang mulia.
