Wadsworth became Ohio's 22nd Main Street Community in 2016! What does that mean for you? It means that your downtown has just started a comprehensive revitalization effort that includes downtown events, but also SO much more!.

Main Street is a 40-year-old national membership program that effectively revitalizes historic downtowns.
It is a difficult process to become an accredited Main Street Community--there are only 22 in the State of Ohio! Wadsworth passed the rigorous accreditation process and became Ohio's newest Main Street in 2016..

For the last 12 years, Wadsworth's downtown events organization was known as "Downtown Wadsworth, Inc." and was primarily an events-based organization.
In 2016 that organization became Main Street Wadsworth.
Different name, same dedication to events, but now has an expanded purpose of total downtown revitalization!.

Main Street Wadsworth is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the economic revitalization and historic preservation of Wadsworth's historic downtown district (approximately four square blocks).
It is led by a 15-member Board of Directors, made up of Wadsworth community members.
There is one staff member, Executive Director Adrianne Krauss, who started in the role in May 2017.
Her mission is to oversee and coordinate the work plans and projects produced by the Board of Directors and the Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion, and Organization Committees!.

We have begun using Main Street's proven "Four-Point Approach" of Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion, and Organization (you'll see these mentioned when you view the video below) with the goal of making our downtown a vibrant gathering place to live, eat, work, stay, and play!.

There are three established Main Street Communities within a short driving distance of Wadsworth: Kent, Wooster, and Medina..

Main Street Wooster is 30 years old, Main Street Medina is around 20 years old, and Main Street Kent is 10 years old.
