Detailed description is Mackavi Martial Arts is a Martial Arts School teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the Self Defense System of Krav Maga We are new and small martial arts studio located in Jewett City.
Going back to the roots of an era of smaller dojos with less overhead we are able to bring personal attention back to the student.
Our two main programs consist of Brazillian Jiu-jitsu and Krav Maga self defense.
They run independently of each other at different times but blend well into each other and we encourage new and experienced students alike to try both.
Both offer separate challenges that will really produce a well rounded student.
We encourage anyone even with zero previous experience to come in and give it a try.

While not teaching our instructors can be regularly found on the mats taking another instructors class and helping new students along.
This makes for a friendly and efficient learning environment.
While we mainly only teach Jiu-jitsu and Krav maga expect to see a wide variety of techniques, 'tools' and philosophy of use work their way into our curriculum.
Our instructors have an extensive background in many other arts that can be seen shine through in the style they teach.

A little about krav maga and jiu-jitsu; .

Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, judo, boxing and wrestling, along with realistic fight training.
Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks] It was derived from street-fighting skills developed by Hungarian-Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld, who made use of his training as a boxer and wrestler as a means of defending the Jewish quarter against fascist groups in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia[6] in the mid-to-late 1930s.
In the late 1940s, following his migration to Israel, he began to provide lessons on combat training to what was to become the IDF, who went on to develop the system that became known as Krav Maga.
