Detailed description is Ragin' Jazz Dance Team The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin’ Jazz Dance team currently consists of 16 dancers.
The Ragin’ Jazz dance team attends UDA camp during the summer and competes for the UDA national title in Orlando, Florida in January.
They have been ranked in the top 15 in Division IA for 6 of the past 8 years.
The Ragin' Jazz perform at home football games, men and women’s basketball games, and various university and community events..

REQUIREMENTS FOR TRYOUTS:.
-triple pirouettes.
-fouette/a la second turns.
-splits.
-grand jetes.
-turning disc.
-straddle leaps.
-variety of other dance skills such as pique turns, chaine turns, chaine grand jete, leg pull turn, calypso.

ATTIRE FOR TRYOUTS:.
Candidates will wear black hot shorts (lycra dance shorts), black crop top or sports bra and bring jazz shoes & tennis shoes.
Dancers may also bring a pair of black sweat pants or basketball shorts for the hip hop portion of tryouts..

Dancers will be evaluated in 3 styles of dance...POM, JAZZ & HIP HOP, as well as dance technique.
Dancers should be healthy & athletically fit and present themselves well groomed.
Candidates should also pack a lunch/snacks & a water bottle as the process will last most of the day and you will be given small breaks..
